Sasha Perl-Raver traveled the world with her family at the age of nine, started her first business at 16 and is the proud owner of one crown and three decorative silver bowls thanks to a single-year run in the Miss America pageant circuit that won her the title of Miss San Francisco, Miss Congeniality and the Outstanding Interview. Not bad considering she entered the contest because she knew it was the only time someone was going to applaud for her in a swimsuit.
She is a film critic, entertainment reporter, actress or chef, depending on which networks you’re partial to.
After graduating from high school at the age of 16, Sasha needed a job and money for college, so she took her obsession with The Frugal Gourmet and penchant for memorizing cookbooks, and parlayed that into a business as a personal chef/caterer. Over the years, her reputation grew to include commissioned recipes in several books and clients like the Creative Artists Agency and Us Weekly, before landing a starring role on Food Network’s series, Private Chefs of Beverly Hills.
But her first love has always been film, television, and the kind of too-honest criticism that earned tears from her classmates in freshman year acting class. Since diving into the world of entertainment journalism in 2006, she has interviewed Hollywood’s biggest stars and been quoted by MSNBC, IMDB, Page Six and Entertainment Weekly, among numerous other outlets. Her celebrity interviews, film reviews and entertainment reports were seen from 2010-2013 on NBC’s Los Angeles affiliate, KNBC, as well as on NBC.com’s Popcorn Biz blog and the occasional New York City cab. She as also appeared on E! Entertainment Television, PBS, TV Guide Channel, Fox News, LOGO, and Style Network, as well as Fandango, AOL, Hollywood.com and MovieWeb.com, to name just a few.
In other humblebrags, the New York Daily News declared her “funniest in LA,” and designer Randolph Duke once compared her to Angelina Jolie.
She lives in The Valley with her cat, Swayze, and a very Foxy man.
